Some yards just get to a point where patching and hoping isn't going to cut it anymore. Bare spots, dead grass, uneven ground, loose stepping stones going nowhere - it all adds up. That's exactly what we were working with here before we got started.
We cleared out the mess around the back steps first. Loose concrete pavers, rocky soil, dead grass - none of it was doing the yard any favors. Once the ground was prepped and graded properly, we laid fresh sod across the entire backyard. We also worked quality lawn soil into the mix to give the new grass a solid foundation to root into.
The front yard got the same treatment. That stretch of lawn between the sidewalk, front steps, and retaining wall was worn down to almost nothing. Fresh sod went in tight against the existing concrete and right up to the stone retaining wall - clean lines, no gaps, no shortcuts. The kind of result that actually holds up.
What ties it all together is the stepping stone path through the backyard. Those square concrete pavers set flush into the new sod give the space a clean, practical feel. No more mud tracking from the deck to the garage. The yard looks put together and actually works the way a backyard should.
A lot of homeowners sit on a lawn like this for years thinking it's too far gone to fix. It's usually not. Fresh sod, good soil prep, and the right concrete work can take a yard from worn out to genuinely usable in a short amount of time. That's what this one is - a yard that's ready to be enjoyed again.
